About
Why this exists.
Finding a badminton court in Sri Lanka is harder than it should be. The information exists — it is just scattered across Facebook pages, phone calls and word of mouth.
Badminton SL is a directory of badminton courts, academies and tournaments in Sri Lanka. We list 11 venues so far, and no academies yet — we would rather list none than list ones we have not spoken to. That is not many, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
How we collect the data
We find venues from public sources, then check the details ourselves. The information a player actually chooses on — how many courts, what the floor is made of, whether there is air conditioning or just fans, what an hour really costs — is almost never published anywhere, so most of it has to come from a phone call.
Every listing says where its facts came from and when. Pages we have not yet confirmed by phone are labelled Not yet verified, and that label stays until somebody has actually spoken to the venue. We would rather show an honest gap than a confident guess.
What we deliberately do not do
- We do not take bookings. You call the venue directly. We take no commission and never see your money.
- We do not charge venues to be listed. Listings are free and will stay free.
- We do not republish scraped data. Google’s terms do not permit storing its place data, and in any case copied listings go stale and nobody owns the mistakes.
- We do not list private school or club courts that the public cannot book, except where guest access genuinely exists — and then we say what the restriction is.
What we get wrong
Rates in Sri Lanka move quickly and halls change their hours without telling anyone. Some of what is on this site will be out of date. Treat every figure as the number we were given on the date stamped on the page, and call ahead before you travel.
If you spot something wrong, telling us is genuinely the most useful thing you can do — corrections are the messages we most want to receive. There is a form for that, or just email us.
Get in touch
Email hello@badmintonsl.lk. We are small and we answer everything ourselves. If you run a hall or coach, list it free.
