Western Province
The southern strip along Galle Road has a cluster of private halls that stay open past midnight — useful if you work late.
01The atlas
Listed as we verified them. Where a rate is missing, the venue had not published one when we called.

02By area
Demand in the Western Province is suburban. Start with where you can actually get to on a weeknight.
03On the ground
Court hire in Sri Lanka is priced per court per hour, not per player. Four people splitting a court for an hour is one of the cheaper ways to get a hard workout in Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia, which is a large part of why evening slots are so hard to get.
Most halls here run on industrial fans rather than air conditioning. That is fine at six in the morning and fine again after eight at night; between about eleven and three it is heavy going, and the shuttle flies noticeably differently once the hall warms up. If a venue has A/C we say so on its listing, because it changes both the game and the price.
Bring your own racket if you have one. Rental stock, where it exists, is usually worn and strung low. Shuttles are sold at most halls but feather shuttles do not last long in Sri Lankan humidity — plenty of regulars play nylon for casual games and save feathers for matches.
04Questions
We currently list 1 venue in and around Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia. That is what we have verified, not everything that exists — we are still working through the call sheet, and school and club halls with restricted access are deliberately excluded.
Rates are charged per court per hour, not per player, so a game split four ways is cheap. Expect to pay more after 6 PM — nearly every hall prices evenings higher because that is when they fill.
Almost none of them. Phone and WhatsApp remain the normal way to book badminton in Sri Lanka. A couple of platforms claim online booking but cover very few venues, so calling is still faster.
Mornings and early afternoons are easy to walk into. The 6–9 PM window is when everything fills, so book a day or two ahead if that is the only time you can play.
