About Shuttle Power.

One of the longest-running private halls in Colombo, operating on Poorwarama Road since 2002, with two wood-floored courts under a pitched steel roof. It is unusual in pricing by booking type rather than by hour: hold a permanent weekly slot and you pay LKR 900, book a one-off and it is LKR 1,000, while schools and group classes pay LKR 1,200. That rewards regulars and makes casual play slightly dearer than the headline figure suggests. Doors open at five in the morning, among the earliest in the city. Two things to watch: an hour admits only four players and two vehicles, with each extra player charged LKR 100, so a group of six on a one-hour slot costs more than the rate card implies; and the building also runs table tennis, karate and fitness classes, so the hall is rarely quiet and parking on the frontage fills quickly in the evening.

No peak surcharge is published — the rate depends on whether you book casually or hold a regular slot. Evenings from 6 are still the hardest slots to get.

Frequently asked.

How do I book a court at Shuttle Power?

Call 071 427 2458. Like most halls in Sri Lanka there is no online booking — phone or WhatsApp is how it is done, and evening slots go first.

What does it cost to play at Shuttle Power?

LKR 900–1,200 an hour per court at the time we checked. Split between four players that is modest, but confirm when you call — rates move and peak evening pricing is common.

What surface are the courts at Shuttle Power?

Wooden — more grip and easier on the knees, which is why tournament halls use it. Ventilation is fans.

Is Shuttle Power suitable for beginners?

Coaching is available here, so it is a reasonable place to start. Colombo has other options if this one does not suit.
