About Sri Lanka Badminton.

The national association's own hall on Maitland Place, and the only venue in the country where you can hire the same synthetic carpet the national squad trains on. The courts are described by SLB as international-standard synthetic carpet — a faster, lower-bounce surface than the sprung timber used almost everywhere else in Colombo, and the one you will meet at a sanctioned tournament, which makes this the obvious place to practise before a graded event. The hall is built for competition rather than casual hire: a high steel truss roof, sponsor boards down the side lines, and proper spectator seating. Court hire runs LKR 1,000 an hour, flat, with no member discount published — bookings are open to non-members as well as SLB members, subject to availability, and run through an online reservation portal with payment due within fifteen minutes and a printed or digital receipt required at the door. Two caveats worth planning around. Availability is the real constraint — this is a working national training centre, so the squad's programme and the tournament calendar take the courts first, and casual slots appear around them rather than on a predictable weekly grid. Non-marking shoes are enforced, and you must bring your own equipment.

Frequently asked.

How do I book a court at Sri Lanka Badminton?

Call 011 268 6264. Like most halls in Sri Lanka there is no online booking — phone or WhatsApp is how it is done, and evening slots go first.

What does it cost to play at Sri Lanka Badminton?

LKR 1,000 an hour per court at the time we checked. Split between four players that is modest, but confirm when you call — rates move and peak evening pricing is common.

What surface are the courts at Sri Lanka Badminton?

Synthetic — the usual choice in newer private halls and perfectly good to play on. Ventilation is fans.

Is Sri Lanka Badminton suitable for beginners?

Coaching is available here, so it is a reasonable place to start. Colombo has other options if this one does not suit.
